This is quite possibly the best $5 I’ve ever spent…if everything works as planned. Jeff and I have been struggling with the little ones on how to get them to stop fighting and actually do what is expected of them.

They are no longer babies (9,8,5,4) and are fully capable of doing much more than they do. This is our attempt at introducing allowance, as well as teaching them responsibility for their own actions.

They each get a piggy bank, and will each start the day with 3 pompoms that count for good behavior, home work, and chores. Each pompom is worth 10¢. At the end of the day, they will get a dime for each pompom they still have, and those dimes go into their bank.

They earn a little over $2/week (which is a lot to them) and I hopefully end up with a LOT less stress. I’ve never been crazy about the idea of paying off my kids, but I’ll spin it by calling it “providing incentive”.
